MatchWork was founded in Denmark in 1996 by entrepreneurial people who saw that with the coming of the World Wide Web the market for job advertising would migrate from print to online. On 1st July 1997, MatchWork went live with its own branded job portal making us one of the first online players in the job advertisement market world-wide.



The launch was an instant success and soon MatchWork started to expand into more countries and to widen the business by developing partnerships with different media companies, primarily newspaper publishers with a print job market to protect and develop. Again, MatchWork pioneered the delivery of job boards as an internet service long before the “over the cloud” concept. It was also during this period that MatchWork developed its groundbreaking CV matching system with a shared job and CV database that offers MatchWork’s partners the strength of a network and a unique sales offering with a significant competitive edge.

In 2004, MatchWork’s financial position was strengthened when it was acquired by the Danish media group North Media A/S who are listed on the Danish stock exchange. Supplying white label job boards to external partners had grown into a business in its own right so it was decided to split MatchWork’s operations in two. The front line job board business was incorporated into North Media’s other job board activities; and MatchWork continued as a focused IT company and provider of branded job boards to external companies.

In the following years substantial investment was ploughed back into product development to ensure the platform continued to be market-leading with a mixture of rich functionality and quality upsells for customers held together by a user friendly back office, thereby providing the flexibility to meet the needs of any job board.

In 2009 MatchWork launched the third generation of their Enterprise job board solution, called the Helios platform - another move to stay ahead of the market requirements. Helios raises the bar for job board revenue streams and has the benefit of being based on advanced CMS technology and the MS FAST search engine.
